
A servo hydraulic cylinder is an integrated closed-loop executive unit that combines a servo valve (or proportional servo valve), a high-precision feedback sensor (e.g., an LVDT displacement sensor), and a low-friction cylinder assembly. Its core lies in the precise conversion and real-time correction of electrical signals → hydraulic energy → mechanical energy.
Command Input: The controller issues electrical signals for position/speed/force.
Electro-Hydraulic Conversion: The servo valve receives deviation signals, adjusts the valve port opening and direction, and controls the flow and pressure of hydraulic oil entering the two chambers of the cylinder.
Execution Output: High-pressure oil drives the piston/piston rod to output thrust and displacement, realizing load movement.
Closed-Loop Correction: The sensor collects real-time status data and feeds it back to the controller, which dynamically adjusts the command through PID calculation until the error approaches zero.

This contactless and absolute position measuring system is pressure-tight up to 500 bar. Its function principle is based on the magnetostrictive effect. In connection with this, a torsion impulse is triggered off when two magnetic fields meet. This impulse is directed from the point of measurement via the waveguide inside the measuring side to the sensor head. The transit time is constant and virtually independent of temperature. It is proportional to the position of the solenoid and can therefore be used as a reference for the actual position value and is converted into a direct analog-to-digital output in the sensor head.
